Biennial of Animation Bratislava takes place throughout October 2024.
Talented creatives from 91 countries submitted 1,764 films into a competition bearing witness to the power and magic of high-quality animation for kids. These productions compete for The Grand Prix – The Viktor Kubal Prize for Best Film (since 2003), The UNICEF Award (since 2001), The St. Vojtech Prize for Best V4 Film (since 2003), the European Children's Film Association Award - ECFA (since 2018) and The Children’s Choice Award (since 1993).

The International House of Art for Children - the official name of the institution, BIBIANA, for almost 40 years - organizes the Biennial primarily for children and because of them. Positive impact on the next generation is the fundamental focus of our work. Other key focus points of the Biennial are legacy and the sharing of accomplished leaders’ expertise as well as the cross-cutting impact of new technologies.

Children from all corners of Slovakia will take part in screenings of the most beautiful animations from around the world.
BIENNIAL CINEMA IN BIBIANA (throughout October)
Starting on October 8, the Biennial Cinema welcomes elementary schools every weekday (except Monday) at 9:00, 10:00 a 11:00 and after 1:00 p.m. the general public. Free entry.
During weekends we also open doors to everyone - the Biennial Cinema welcomes the public on October 12 from 10:00 a.m. all day and on October 26 - 27 all day, starting at 10:00 a.m.
CLOSER TO KIDS: BIENNIAL IN THE CLASSROOM
Children from across Slovakia can see the nominees for The Children’s Choice Award directly in their classroom and decide which is the best film in their view. For the first time, we are able to compare the professional voice International Jury with children's vote as the films nominated The Children’s Choice Award are the same as the Grand Prix nominees this year.
LUMIÈRE CINEMA, BRATISLAVA October 28 - 30
Between October 28 - 29 Lumière Cinema in Bratislava welcomes kids from Grade 1 - 4 at 9:00 a.m. and at 10:20 a.m. the kids from Grades 5 and above in screening the most beautiful animations from around the world.
On October 30 at 9:00 a.m. and 10:20 a.m., everyone is welcome to the screenings of films at the Biennial of Animation Bratislava 2024 in K1 Theater at Lumière Cinema.
11 CINEMAS ACROSS SLOVAKIA
Classes from across Slovakia take part in screenings of the most beautiful animations from around the world in Banská Bystrica, Dunajská Streda, Košice, Martin, Nitra, Poprad, Prešov, Skalica, Trnava, Trenčín and Žilina.
