BAB ANIMATION EXPRESS

Introduces

• 2 selected collections of awarded Slovak films at the Biennials of Animation Bratislava

• 1 selected collection of awarded international films at the Biennials of Animation Bratislava

Do you know the Biennial of Animation Bratislava – BAB? We will tell you that it is a unique international festival of animated films for children – it introduces animated films from all over the world. You can find a lot of events in the map of festivals, but BAB focuses its attention on the youngest viewers. Our festival has an International Jury and this jury presents important awards. The International Jury grants the Viktor Kubal Award for the best film in the competition, the Visegrad Award – St Vojtech Award, Prix Klingsor for the life-long accomplishment, the UNICEF Award and there is one more that is special. It is the Children´s Audience Award. Children viewers also cast their vote at the festival.

Animated films like travelling and that is the reason why ANIMATION EXPRESS – a fairy tale train comes to the Biennial of Illustrations Bratislava - BIB every time.

We can tell you that BAB has always had a close relationship to illustrations that live in nice books and it has always paid attention to this connection. Why? Because since its beginning in 1985, it has been an accompanying event of the Biennial of Illustrations Bratislava.

The world of animation and the world of illustrations are close to each other, they connect static and moving pictures and reveal us the secret of bringing a line, paper, plasticine and the whole world around us to life.

This fairy tale train brings films to children that they probably have not seen yet – awarded films made by Slovak and international filmmakers that take part in the BIENNIAL OF ANIMATION BRATISLAVA.

It shows not only a rich collection of works, but also an assorted scale of graphic and animation possibilities where play, humor and a discovering view of history are the keystone.

We believe that you will like these films, you will talk about them, draw them or evaluate them the way a real jury does.

ANIMATION EXPRESS introduces a great collection of Slovak animated films from the past but also the contemporary ones. Since 2007, it has travelled almost through all European countries and children could see it in Wienna, Berlin, Paris, Prague, Budapest, Rome, Kecskemét, Poznań, Piešťany, Košice, Warsaw, Skalica, Banská Bystrica and even in Taiwan. They were happy to see it everywhere, asked curious questions and drew a lot of beautiful pictures. During the Biennial of Animation, BAB 2016, we made of them a nice exhibition.

Try to draw something what you liked about the films and like this, we can show your drawings at the next exhibition of the 14th BAB 2018 that will take place from 8 to 12 October 2018.

The train is here right now and has its stop at the BIB exhibition in the Slovak National Museum where it shows us three collections of animated films. Have a good journey!
