An interantional jury will award prizes to the best illustrators of BIB 2023 - Grand Prix, 5 Golden Appples, 5 Plaques and Honorable Mentions to the publishers:

  • Amanda Ariawan – Indonesia

Art curator, writer, and cultural worker. She obtained her Master’s in Contemporary Art Exhibition Production from Université de Lille, with research that examined the local, global, and identity issues within Asian contemporary art. Since then, her roles in the arts have varied from producing and curating exhibitions, working as a gallery associate, to developing digital platforms, residencies, mentorships, discussions, and cultural programs.

  • Orna Granot – Israel

She holds an MA in Children's Literature from Simmons University in Boston and a BA in History of Art and Education from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. A curator, researcher, and lecturer specializing in the history of illustration as well as the history of illustrated children's books, she is the head of the Illustration Library, a unique international collection organized on behalf of the artist and housed in the Ruth Youth Art Education Center, Israel Museum, Jerusalem. She is a lecturer at Bezalel Art Academy and Shenkar College of Art and Design.

  • Renate Habinger – Austria

She studied graphic design in Vienna and works as an illustrator, children's book author and artistic director of the Kinderbuchhaus im Schneiderhäusl (Children's House in Schneiderhäusl), where she runs a handmade paper workshop. She has received numerous awards including a nomination for the Hans Christian Andersen Award, the Austrian Children's and Young People's Book Award, and an Honorary Certificate for Illustration 2008, as well as the Austrian Art Award 2020 in the category of literature for children and youth.

  • Chen Hui – China

Professor of Chinese Literature at Beijing Normal University. She has been working and researching in the field of children's illustrated books for 20 years, and has published scholarly publications and articles. She has written 19 picture books and translated many into Chinese. She has participated in several domestic and international juries: the CCBF Golden Pinwheel Young Illustrators Competition 2020, the Chinese Picture Book Times Award, and the World Illustration Awards 2020. She is a member of the Children's Literature Commission and the Chinese Writers Association.

  • Vladimír Král – Slovakia

He graduated from the Department of Animation at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. He works as an illustrator, painter, scenic artist, director of animated films and occasionally as a graphic designer. His work includes book illustration, promotional graphics, and design of TV shows and TV spots. He has illustrated a number of children's books.

  • Odilon Moraes – Brazil

He studied architecture, but his passion for books and drawings led him to work with illustrating children's books. He has illustrated more than fifty books and won awards such as Jabuti and Adolfo Aizen (Brazilian Writers Association). In 2002, he won the Ofelia Fontes Prize – Best Children's Book, awarded by the National Foundation for Books for Children and Young Adults, for the first children's book he wrote and illustrated.

  • Gundega Muzikante – Latvia

She studied fine arts, graphic design, and sculpture. She has been working in the field of book illustration for about 30 years. She has illustrated more than 40 children's books and several textbooks. She has worked for children's magazines and conducted workshops for children. She was a member of the jury of the book and illustration competition organized by the Latvian Publishers Association (2018, 2021). She has received awards such as The White Raven and has been nominated for the Astrid Lindgren and Hans Christian Andersen Awards. She has been a member of the Board of IBBY Latvia since 2018.

  • Susanne Sandström – Sweden

She studied art history at Lund University. Founder and editor-in-chief of the online magazine Bazar Masarin, which focuses on children's and youth literature and illustration, to deepen and spread knowledge about visual arts. She has been a board member of IBBY Sweden since 2019 and has authored several publications focusing on the field of children's literature.

  • Margaret Anne Suggs – Ireland

She studied Art History and Visual Communication at the College of Art and Design in Dublin. She has been working professionally in illustration for nearly twenty years, and her work has been included in exhibitions around the world. She has participated in various international symposiums, teaching theory, and art history, as well as running an illustration studio. She is a board member of the Illustrators' Association of Ireland and has been IBBY Secretary since 2022.

  • Sahar Tarhandeh – Iran

She studied visual communication and graphic design at the University of Sunderland. She was a graphic designer and research assistant at the Institute for Research on the History of Children's Literature in Iran. She has also worked as a theorist and has written numerous articles for professional journals focusing on children's literature, illustration and graphic design. She participates and presents at national and international conferences. She has also been a jury member of many national and international awards; for example, the jury of the Hans Christian Andersen Awards in 2012 and 2014. She is the director of TUTI Books, a publishing house dedicated to publishing high-quality content for children and young adults, and is also a member of the IBBY Iran Children's Book Council.

  • Kiril Zlatkov – Bulgaria

He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Plovdiv and the National Academy of Arts in Sofia. He is a typographer and illustrator but also works in other forms of art. In recent years he has been concentrating on books – from layout, typography, illustration and type design. He has received awards such as – the Golden Lion Award of the Bulgarian Book Association, Golden Brush 2017, and Grand Prix Chopin 2010.
