Collection of award-winning illustrations and books by French illustrators, participating at the Biennial of Illustrations Bratislava 1969 – 2011, organized on the occasion of the 1st BAB International Forum titled From Illustration to Animation.
Since the start of the Biennial of Illustration Bratislava, the event has been attended by illustrators from France. So far 230 French artists have participated in BIBs. The quality of their art is attested by the numerous awards they have won in the course of the 25 BIB editions, including Honorary Mention for a publisher (four times), BIB Plaques (seven), and BIB Golden Apples (five). France ranks among the few countries whose artists have won three top awards - the Grand Prix BIB: in 1985 the award went to Frédéric Clément, in 1997 to Martin Jarrie and in 2001 to Eric Battut.
The collection displayed here presents a representative, quality art sample from the art works by French illustrators for children’s books over a period of fifty years.
