In this interactive exhibition, where the visitors get a lot of interesting facts on gingerbread history, they get to know exotic spices used for their baking - and then you can try distinguish them with your very own nose. The kids get to the gingerbread-land via a comics-tale about a little gingerbread-kid never experiencing Christmas before

AT THE ATELIER WITH THE ILLUSTRATOR MATÚŠ MAŤÁTKO

The hallmark of this year's Biennale of Illustrations Bratislava is the dragon, drawn up by the well known illustrator Matúš Maťátko. Billufest - a festival of illustration in Budapest

Festival ilustrácií Budapešť (Billufest) bol založený v roku 2019 s cieľom predstaviť a obnoviť maďarské ilustračné umenie. Ilustrácia je jedno z najdynamickejšie sa rozvíjajúcich a inovatívnych odvetví súčasného vizuálneho umenia. Našim zámerom je povzbudiť maďarskú ilustráciu v literatúre tak, aby držala krok so svetovými špičkami; zviditeľniť mladé talenty a nakoniec aj predstaviť maďarskú ilustráciu celému svetu.

BIB 2021 International Press Conference

Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic, BIBIANA, International House of Art for Children, Poštová banka, a.s. invite and the Historical Museum of the Slovak National Museum at Bratislava Castle invite to International Press Conference of the 28th Biennial of Illustration Bratislava - BIB 2021 at which, among other things, the jury will publish its decision on the awards that have been awarded to BIB 2021.

Tin-Bob is the shiniest tin-can in the factory. He is definitely very proud of him, clearly seeing his "starry" future … He will be definitely filled with the most yummy fruit candies! But his conceitedness comes quickly to an end when learning that it will be just ordinary dog-food in the end. Moreover - an expired one.

CHILDREN´S JURY AWARD

In addition to the professional jury, the Children's Jury has been meeting since 1993 to choose its winner. It is interesting that she never agreed in her choice with a professional jury made up of world-renowned illustrators, art theorists and publishers. The members of Children´s Jury of BIB 2021 were: Elenka Lutterová, Helena Špačková, Karin Tvrdoňová, Ondrej Benkovský and Viktória Rusňáková (author of the Children's Jury Award).

BOŽENA PLOCHÁŇOVÁ, illustrations

The Bratislava Biennial of Illustrations traditionally includes an exhibition of works by an important Slovak illustrator. This year, a selection of illustrations by Božena Plocháňová is prepared for the visitors of the biennial.

HASSAN MOUSAVI, IRAN – GRAND PRIX BIB 2019

​​​​​​​Sayed Hasan Mousavi (Iran, 1983-), Iranian painter and illustrator, was born in a middle-class family in Qom. His artworks have been displayed in Iran, Germany, Denmark, Japan, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Italy, UAE etc. His illustrations were selected for Bologna Annual Illustration Exhibition (2017), he received honor diploma from the Children's Book Council of Iran (IBBY- Iran) (2018). JACQUELINE WOODSON, USA HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN AWARD FOR LITERATURE 2020

Jacqueline Woodson was born in Columbus, Ohio in 1963, and shortly thereafter moved with her mother and siblings to Greenville, South Carolina where she spent much of her early formative years in the care of her maternal grandparents. At age seven she moved to Brooklyn, New York where she has since lived. Three : Miro Cipár, Sveťo Košický, Boris Šima

The installation on the west terrace of Bratislava Castle will present the work of three illustrators who won non-statutory prizes BIB 2019: Svetozár Košický , Miroslav Cipár and Boris Šima . The vernissage will also include the presentation of a Plaque of Ľudmila Podjavorinská.
